  • Jackson's Positive Living Group hosted the 5th annual Giraffe Awards at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Saturday from 4 to 10. The gala honored local heroes with festivities—red carpet, cocktail hour, dinner, music and dancing—celebrating efforts that uplift the community.  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hub City Theatre Company staged a two-person performance titled 'The Last 5 Years' at Turntable Coffee Counter in Jackson on Sunday at 3 p.m., featuring Cade Jett & Dana Mann. The theatre company will present additional shows from August 15 to 17 with tickets priced at $25.  WBBJ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • West Tennessee Healthcare celebrated 75 years on Sunday when it held an invitation-only luncheon at Jackson Madison County General Hospital from 2 p.m.+4 p.m. The organization grew from a 123-bed community hospital to a 642-bed center offering top neonatal and heart care and now serves 19 rural counties in West TN.  WBBJ-TV
  • The Food and Drug Administration reported that 803 cases of Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies sold at Target are being recalled due to potential wood contamination that may cause temporary health issues—this recall includes products sold in Tennessee. The recall was initiated by Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp and remains ongoing.  The Jackson Sun
