  • In July, Jackson’s Bowls for the Hungry fundraiser raised over $8,000 to help local residents purchase essential items—Area Relief Ministries said the funds would support those facing financial challenges.  WNBJ 39

CRIME NEWS

  • Jackson Police Department is investigating after a 31-year-old Hispanic man was found with stab wounds on Muse Street in the early hours of Sunday—he was pronounced dead at the scene.  WNBJ 39
  • Authorities are searching for 17-year-old Kourtney King and 16-year-old Shirley Britt, who went missing Sunday and may be headed toward Memphis as the TBI works with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to issue alerts and ask for public help.  WBBJ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Jackson-Madison County Library is hosting a weekly book club for homeschooling families each Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at its 433 East Lafayette Street location—families read a selected book at home then gather to discuss the story, play games, and take part in creative activities with registration required.  WNBJ 39
  • Shea Brown from the Leaders Education Foundation joined a local show—inviting West Tennessee teachers to apply for educator grants today.  WYN 106.9
