CRIME NEWS

  • Jackson Police arrested Teresa Larue—identified as the victim's girlfriend—after a fatal stabbing took place Monday night at Daybreak Suites Extended on Highway 45 Bypass, where 60-year-old Carlis Farrior died from his injuries.  WYN 106.9
  • Jimmie Allen was found liable on Aug. 18th by a Tennessee court for sexual assault, battery, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress after he repeatedly missed deadlines & ignored court orders, leaving him responsible for potential monetary damages despite his earlier denial.  WYN 106.9

CULTURE NEWS

  • VSS DANCE, celebrating 40 years of dance education, announced open enrollment for the 2025–2026 season to welcome dancers of all ages and skill levels. The studio will run classes from August through May — offering a range of styles and competitive team opportunities that highlight its long history in Jackson.  WYN 106.9
  • Ashley Kate Adams, a Broadway actress and local educator in Jackson, began pre-orders for her second book on grief and productivity on August 19th—she will release it on September 23rd to guide artists through using loss as a source for creativity.  WBBJ-TV

  • Tennessee will mark its traditional Free Hunting Day on Saturday, August 23 as squirrel season opens statewide—hunters can join without a license or WMA permit.
