- ➤ The Jackson City Fair is in its final weekend at Jackson Rockabilly Stadium — Saturday events ended at 11 p.m. and today it runs from noon until 10 p.m.; families enjoy carnival rides, tethered hot-air balloon rides, a petting zoo and daring motorcyclist shows along with a variety of classic fair food. - ➤ On August 8, Governor Bill Lee announced he had sought a federal waiver to let SNAP users buy hot foods such as rotisserie chicken—sugary snacks remain banned. RIFA, which has served West Tennessee for 50 years, runs a food pantry, Senior Staples program and Snack Backpack Program to help local families and seniors. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Elk’s Lodge #192 held its Save a Rack fundraiser Saturday at 28 Executive Drive in Jackson, featuring a cornhole tournament, BBQ cookoff, and live music as guests wore pink to support West TN women battling breast cancer — proceeds came from registration fees and prizes. WBBJ-TV
