  • A billboard along the 45 Bypass in Jackson now displays 'Believe the children. Not the predators.' It was updated by Indivisible Jackson after previously urging the release of Epstein files—#ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles and is rented until early September.  WNBJ 39
  • Scarlet Rope’s annual Wingfest will take place on Saturday, October 25 at Hub City Brewing, 250 West Main Street from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a wing-cooking contest where local teams compete for bragging rights. The fundraiser, presented by Christian Brothers Automotive, will offer live entertainment and silent auctions to support survivors of sexual exploitation — uniting the community for a good cause.  WNBJ 39

CRIME NEWS

  • U.S. Marshals and Jackson Police arrested 22-year-old Demetrius Moore on August 27 — he was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder for his role in a May 14 fatal shooting — after he jumped from a second-story window at the Royal Arms Apartment Complex and was taken to Madison County Jail.  WBBJ-TV
  • A 19-year-old suspect named Micheal Hunt has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting 22-year-old Sherman Mays on Roosevelt Parkway on August 22 and is set to appear in Jackson City Court for arraignment today.  WNBJ 39

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jackson Hidden Tracks has released a live music schedule for West Tennessee — spanning August 27 to September 2 — that features numerous local performances. The lineup includes piano sessions, karaoke and live bands — at venues in Jackson and nearby towns — to entertain local music fans this week.  WYN 106.9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, Congressman David Kustoff met with local restaurant owners in Jackson at a roundtable to talk about issues like labor shortages, high prices, and new tax rules. The meeting brought together operators from restaurants representing more than 600 local jobs — a vital part of the local economy.  WYN 106.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents in Jackson are invited to attend an overdose awareness event on Tuesday, September 2 at Liberty Park—24 Channing Way—from 6 to 7 p.m. The event features recovery speakers, overdose prevention resources and a remembrance ceremony and is funded by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.  WBBJ-TV
