Tipton County Animal Shelter features Ember, an 8-month-old German Shepherd who is sweet and curious but shy at first and is looking for a forever home.
Interested adopters can call 901 837-5919 (Ember is not spayed yet).
A free self defense class was held Saturday at Legacy Evolution Martial Arts on Airways Boulevard where women learned basic techniques while donating teddy bears to support first responders working with children in need + the event was organized with America Cares.

On Friday night at Hub City Central, the Cougars beat their rival 36-7—quarterback Jimaerious Douglas threw three touchdowns while a strong defense kept the Hawks in check throughout the game.

Bethel Wildcats (16-3) beat Lane College Dragons in their first football contest on Friday, Aug.
29 in Jackson. The win marked their initial meeting and added excitement for local fans.
Liberty Tech football stayed unbeaten on Friday night when it won 42-6 over Bluff City at home.
Coach Robert Gillard said the game gave young players valuable experience, and the team will travel to Middleton + Gibson County before returning on Sept. 18 for the Commissioners’ Cup game against South Side.
On Saturday night, the Westview Chargers defeated the Arizona Compass Prep Dragons in Jackson—scoring effectively from the start to secure the win.
