  • President Mechelle Moragne and the Gamma Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated donated over 100 Black hair care products to the Dream Center of Jackson–the donation will help the center serve local residents with culturally appropriate care.  WYN 106.9

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Sunday, the Cotton Ridge community hosted its 6th annual Labor Day gathering at 3 p.m.—neighbors grilled food, served free plates with donations accepted, and kids played on a bounce house.  WBBJ-TV
  • At the 35th African Street Festival in Jackson, Soulful Sunday began with a street church service at 11 a.m. led by Rev. Curtis Mormon and continued with a music set by Gospel Explosion at 2 p.m.—reggae music, vendors and food trucks added to the day’s events before King Beez closed the evening on Hays Street.  WYN 106.9

  • Jackson-Madison County Schools will test new education methods in various schools, with Liberty Tech featuring culinary (and) agricultural programs to offer students diverse learning opportunities.  The Jackson Post
