CRIME NEWS

  • The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a 23-year-old woman, Dearrah Sanders, got another charge as an accessory after the fact in the Drummond investigation—she is held in Madison County Jail without bond after a grand jury indicted her on September 2.  WBBJ-TV
  • A Madison County grand jury indicted two additional individuals — Michell Araceli Ovelis and Erik Jermain Wise Jr. — on accessory after the fact charges for helping Austin Drummond avoid arrest in connection with Lake County homicides after his capture in Jackson on August 5.  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jackson residents will enjoy 'Let It Beatles' at The Ned on October 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.—the tribute features Wes Henley sharing personal Beatles stories and rare trivia while focusing solely on the music.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jackson City Council met Tuesday to discuss banning synthetic Kratom, a substance often sold at gas stations and convenience stores and linked to over 2,000 deaths nationwide—passing an 8 to 0 resolution asking the state of Tennessee to ban it.  WNBJ 39

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Following a city council vote on September 2, the rezoning of a 5.03-acre lot at 191 Vann Drive was approved for planned unit commercial use to allow a mix of retail and residential projects—further studies on traffic, stormwater, and permits will be conducted before construction begins. The development may boost property tax revenues for the city.  The Jackson Sun
