  • Local 4—H grill teams competed at the Grill Master Challenge on Saturday at Fred Young Park in Jackson. The contest allowed students from grades 6—12 to show grilling skills and practice safe food handling as community judges awarded top scores and prizes.  WYN 106.9
  • Saturday afternoon, the Jackson City Federation of Colored Women’s and Youth Clubs Inc. hosted the 13th annual Vivian Bell Scholarship Luncheon at Lane College’s Kirkendoll Student Center in Jackson—guests enjoyed a good meal, listened to Judge Gina C. Higgins, and saw scholarship checks of $500 and $750 given to Lane College and Landon Cole.  WBBJ-TV

  • Crime Stoppers is asking Jackson residents for help to identify a suspected porch pirate—whose actions were caught on a Ring camera—after he tried to move a delivered package with his foot.  WYN 106.9

  • The Titans signed veteran safety Amani Hooker to a multiyear extension yesterday ahead of their season opener in Denver—preserving one of the team's longest-serving players. Hooker, who recorded a season-high five interceptions, thanked team officials for their support—ensuring his continued role with the franchise.  WYN 106.9
  • Lane College Dragons kicked off their season Saturday at Rothrock Stadium in Jackson and lost to Lincoln University of Missouri 27-15 — the crowd cheered as the team battled a strong opponent. Their next game is scheduled for September 13 at 6 p.m. against Allen University in South Carolina.  WBBJ-TV
