- ➤ Asia Garden in Jackson is celebrating 40 years of serving tasty food as owner Eddie Yeh highlights the community's support. The restaurant is at 660 Carriage House Drive in Hamilton Hills—and it remains a favorite for many locals. WBBJ TV
- ➤ Bob Arrington was honored with the Funeral Service Foundation Distinguished Service Award for his decades of service, leadership, and innovation in the funeral service field. His award will be given on October 27 at the NFDA International Convention in Chicago and the Foundation is raising funds to create a scholarship in his name. WYN 106.9

- ➤ Jackson Hidden Tracks has released the live music schedule for West Tennessee from September 24th through September 30th including shows in Jackson and nearby towns. The lineup features events today in Jackson at venues such as The Blacksmith and The Downtown Tavern along with performances in Dyersburg, Bolivar, and Huntingdon — offering a weeklong guide for local music fans. - ➤ The Jacob Barker Music Festival will light up downtown Jackson on Oct 3—4 with live music by local artists and free admission—this event supports Make-A-Wish Midsouth with a check presentation at 6:45 p.m. on Oct 4 and a new partnership with Hub City BBQ Fest. WBBJ TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildlife officials announced that Tennessee archery deer and fall turkey season will begin this Saturday, September 27 and run until October 24 with a second phase from October 27 until November 7. They said shotgun and archery turkey season will start October 11 — and hunters must check local regulations and secure landowner permission on private property, except in counties like Dyer, Tipton, Shelby, and Lawrence. - ➤ An EPA report found trace amounts of forever chemicals in Jackson water systems, with PFOS measured at 3.8 times the limit, but the Jackson Energy Authority said the water is safe and meets EPA and TDEC standards—there is no immediate risk to residents. The authority explained that the presence of these chemicals is common in many sources and that testing confirms the water remains high quality. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Tennessee officials and TBI warn that Medetomidine—a veterinary anesthetic far more potent than Xylazine and often mixed with fentanyl—has been found in the illicit drug supply, and they advise residents at risk of overdose to keep naloxone on hand. WBBJ TV
- ➤ The TBI warned today about a new drug called medetomidine found in the illicit drug supply—this veterinary sedative mixed with fentanyl can lower heart and breathing rates and may lead to dangerous withdrawal in people. WBBJ TV
