- ➤ Jackson Christian fifth grader Everett Webb collected 3,027 cans for the RIFA food drive on Oct. 15, 2025 by sending 22 letters to friends and family across several states — his efforts helped Jackson Christian and Trinity Christian Academy raise over 22,009 pounds of food to support local families facing hunger. - ➤ On Tuesday evening, Jackson City Hall hosted the unveiling of a memorial statue honoring civil rights leader Shirlene Mercer, a key figure in the civil rights protests (1960s). Her family and community said the statue represents her lasting impact and will inspire future generations. WNBJ 39

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Toyota Boshoku Tennessee, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, is hosting Tennessee’s fourth annual Zero Waste Day on Monday, October 27 in Jackson from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—a recycling event that accepts small electronics, batteries, tires, paper, glass, cardboard, metal, and plastics. Toyota Boshoku Tennessee will also receive an environmental leadership award between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the event. WYN 106.9

- ➤ Madison County Health will host its annual Fight Flu event on Oct 21, offering free standard flu shots from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at its facility (804 North Parkway) in Jackson; those needing a higher-dose shot must call ahead. WYN 106.9
