This Saturday, AARP will host Pickleball 101 classes at the Westwood Tennis Center in Jackson from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.—the free clinic will offer on-court sessions with certified instructors to teach the basics of pickleball.

Registration is free and AARP membership is not required.

Dalton Crozier was named Jackson Firefighter of the Year by the Jackson Exchange Club.

The club honors one first responder from the city or county each year (alternating between the two) for his service.

Local leaders celebrated the Safe Hope Center’s 10-year anniversary on Wednesday morning at its facility (512 Roland Avenue), noting the center handled over 9,500 cases since it opened in October 2015.

Jackson State Community College will revive its homecoming tradition from Nov.

3-8 with a 'Return to the Nest' theme to honor its history and welcome alumni, staff, and students. The celebration will start with a pep rally at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 and conclude with a tip-off tailgate plus basketball games on Nov. 8 — a reunion social in the renovated administrative building and an exclusive shirt sale to support the college’s pantry — marking the return of a cherished event.

Union University women's basketball coach Mark Campbell said next season is his last after 27 years with the Bulldogs—associate head coach Sean Blackburn will take over as head coach.
