- ➤ Carnegie Center for Arts and History will host the Suede + Blue Christmas Celebration and Opening Reception on December 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 305 East College Street, where community members will enjoy hot chocolate, light hors d’oeuvres and festive cheer as the Center opens its winter exhibits. - ➤ Jackson’s Parks and Recreation Department said the free Halloween at the Market event—featuring candy, food trucks, music, and games—has been rescheduled to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. due to inclement weather. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Veterans Day events in Jackson are planned for November 7 when the 13th annual Celebrating Our Veterans Program starts at 6:30 p.m. at Englewood Baptist Church with keynote speaker MJ (ret) Tommy Baker and music by Miss Tennessee Volunteer Meghan Poore, and for November 8 when the 11th Downtown Veterans Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. with pre-registration by phone (423) 341-3330; the West Tennessee Veterans Coalition will also host the 5th annual Bridges of Honor on November 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. if the parade is rescheduled. - ➤ On October 21, Elks Lodge #192 held a bunco fundraiser that raised over $5,000 for breast cancer support—bringing together more than 65 community members and guests with a silent auction, door prizes, and a taco bar catered by Boss Ross. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Grammy-nominated singer LOLO, born and raised in Jackson, will host her 2025 Christmas Show and Gospel Brunch at Hub City Brewing in Historic Downtown Jackson on December 13–14—each show will feature raffles, auctions, and performances that benefit RIFA’s Snack Backpack ministry for local elementary students. The Gospel Brunch serves food at 11 a.m. with live music starting at noon during the three scheduled performances. WNBJ 39
- ➤ The Care Center held a ribbon cutting for Phase 2 of Genesis Homes on October 27 at 11:00 a.m. at 372 North Liberty St. in Jackson. It was funded by donations and a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services — the project provides safe, affordable transitional housing for women and children. - ➤ Local officials and community leaders showcased their dance skills at the 10th annual Dancing with the Stars in Jackson on Oct. 23 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center — featuring Jackson State Community College President Carol Rothstein and City of Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic — to raise funds for The STAR Center's disability services. - ➤ AAA reports that many Tennesseans plan to book holiday trips early to secure deals and avoid last-minute rush amid a possible government shutdown—travelers are advised to choose early morning nonstop flights and buy travel insurance. - ➤ McNairy County Schools are collecting food donations to support students in need with items including soups, mac and cheese, fruit cups, and granola bars. - ➤ The Jackson Clinic in Milan welcomes Dr. Stephen Snell as its new family medicine provider. He brings 13 years of local and international experience and multiple residency awards and will provide care for patients in Gibson County. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Vote for the Jackson area high school athlete of the week based on football games played from Oct. 20 to Oct. 25.
