- ➤ The Jackson Christmas Parade will be held December 1 at 6:30 p.m. with Superintendent Marlon King of Jackson Madison County Schools as grand marshal— the Superhero-themed event will honor the city's fallen leaders. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Black Tie and Boxing returns on Saturday, January 10 at the Jackson Fairgrounds when The STAR Center hosts its sold-out fundraising event with live boxing + a gala evening. The event supports services for individuals with disabilities across Tennessee and features a Fight Club lineup with sponsors including Leaders Credit Union + C&C Wine and Liquor, and Hub City Brewing. - ➤ Today, in response to a delay in SNAP benefits, the Community Foundation of West Tennessee donated $20,000 in hunger relief assistance to two local nonprofits—$10,000 to RIFA and $10,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank. - ➤ The Jackson-Madison County Library will host Dungeons & Dragons Nights on November 6 and November 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 433 East Lafayette Street, where teens and adults can join in tabletop adventures of heroism and imagination. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Community groups in Jackson are fighting hunger by placing blessing boxes—set up by organizations such as The Salvation Army, Lane College, and JACOA—for residents to drop off non-perishable foods, toiletries, clothing and other supplies to help those in need. WNBJ 39
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jackson State Community College brought back its homecoming tradition on Monday with a week-long celebration (Return to the Nest) that will run through November 8 and include spirit days, events, and competitions. WYN 106.9
- ➤ The Adamsville Jr./Sr. High School Band became Tennessee Division One state champions on November 1 at 11:35 p.m.—their win capped a season of hard work and determination. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the school band. WYN 106.9
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Jackson area sports fans can vote for the boys athlete of the week for games played Oct. 27-Nov. 1 as part of TSSAA football; the poll closes at noon on Nov. 6—nominations include standout players with key contributions. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ On Friday the Westview Chargers beat Merrol Hyde 2-0 to win the TSSAA division 1 class A girls soccer state championship; the team, which has not allowed a goal since October 21, finished the season with a 17-3+1 record and Ashlee Brent earned MVP+ recognition. WYN 106.9
