  • The Community Foundation of West Tennessee will host its 34th annual Charity Gala this weekend at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in downtown Jackson—guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, awards, live music, and dancing as they mark 40 years of impact.  WYN 106.9
  • New Life Church in Jackson raised funds and collected supplies to donate 89 pieces of luggage and essential items such as blankets, toiletries, and stuffed animals for foster children during a Sunday morning service—these items were then given to Youth Villages as community members watched the event.  WYN 106.9
  • St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jackson celebrated reaching $1m in outreach donations on Sunday at 2 p.m.—a milestone achieved over 15 years of community service at its parish hall at 309 east Baltimore street. Church officials said the event underscored their long-term commitment to helping local residents.  WYN 106.9
  • On Saturday evening at the New Southern Hotel at 118 East Baltimore Street in Jackson, community members gathered at Harmony Harvest Feed the Folk to fight hunger in West Tennessee by donating canned items and warm clothing while enjoying live music from Cross and Wren.  WBBJ TV

  • Carriers UPS, USPS, and FedEx have released up-to-date holiday shipping deadlines that require packages to be mailed by mid-December to reach Christmas delivery targets. CULTURE NEWS

  • City officials unveiled a new functional art display at Anderson Park in downtown Jackson—designed by San Francisco-based Looking Up Arts to serve as seating for the AMP and farmer’s market. The installation features laser-cut stainless steel panels and an internal lighting system that brings the art to life—crafted over nearly one year as a labor of love.  The Jackson Sun

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • On Friday Nov. 7, the Shields family completed a court ceremony to adopt two brothers from foster care, adding them to the children they welcomed since 2014. The couple began their journey after training at Jackson State Community College and has steadily grown their family over the years.  The Jackson Post
