COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association Holiday Home Tour in Jackson will take place December 5 at 5:00–8:00 p.m. and December 6 at 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., featuring eight decorated homes and a festive Lighting of Campbell Lake event with a decorated trolley route stopping at each home—tickets cost $20 with free admission for children 4 and under, and home locations will be announced December 3.  WYN 106.9
  • Local non-profit groups are set to join the Good Tidings Market fundraiser at the West TN Farmers Market pavilion — 91 New Market Street — on Saturday, December 6 from noon until 4 p.m. They will raise funds by selling goods or offering items for suggested donations while giving community members a chance to start holiday shopping.  WNBJ 39
  • JACOA invites the public to the Trends and Transformations event at Green Frog Coffee and Grill South from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. — speakers from Lakeside Behavioral Health System, LeBonheur Children’s Hospital and the Jackson Madison Prevention Coalition will discuss adverse childhood experiences, resiliency and provide Narcan training with breakfast served.  WBBJ-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Retailers in Jackson are offering early holiday deals as Black Friday specials begin at stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart — and Best Buy. Discounts on home goods, tools and electronics will start on November 28 to give local shoppers more choice.  WBBJ-TV
  • theCO is now accepting applications for the 2026 CO.STARTERS program that offers nine weeks of hands-on business training to West Tennessee entrepreneurs (led by CEO Lisa Garner). Applicants must apply by January 20 for the $275 program that meets Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on February 3 (a mini strategy night on December 9 will provide more information).  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • First Methodist Downtown Jackson invites the community to its Christmas concert 'Behold the Lamb of God' on December 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The church's Worship Arts Team will perform Andrew Peterson’s songs—telling the biblical story from creation to Christ’s birth—in a free tradition.  WNBJ 39

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jackson Christian senior Tanishi Sorker was named a Semifinalist for the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, the nation’s largest corporate-sponsored scholarship, and is now completing the Phase 2 application for 250 Regional Finalist spots. The program will select Regional Finalists in early January, and successful candidates will later compete for a $20,000 college scholarship—recognizing her academic excellence and leadership.  WBBJ-TV
  • Lane College students from Jackson traveled to Charlotte to compete in the BE Smart Hackathon presented by American Airlines and Black Enterprise. They developed Oasis—a financial survival app that predicts cash flow issues and tracks government benefits to help low-income families manage finances.  WYN 106.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tyson Foods delivered nearly 200 teddy bears to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital on Friday morning to celebrate National American Teddy Bear Day. The company collected the bears from employees over the past two weeks — and the hospital lets patients choose a toy after each appointment to help ease their fears.  WNBJ 39
  • Recent restaurant inspections from November 7 to November 13 showed that many West Tennessee eateries, including several in Jackson, scored between 91 and 100 on their health checks (with top marks noted at Mojo’s Food Truck and Union University Cafeteria). The report covered inspections in counties such as Madison, Carroll, Crockett, Gibson, and Hardin and noted that no inspections were listed for Chester and Henderson counties (the scores reflect routine food safety reviews).  WBBJ TV
