- ➤ The Hub City Flea Market will return to the Jackson Fairgrounds from December 5 to December 7 and will offer vendors selling antiques, collectibles, and trendy finds—live music and food trucks will create a festive day out. The event schedule is December 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., December 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and December 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Men’s Alliance for Leadership and Education distributed food boxes, toiletries, blankets, hygiene products and $230 grocery vouchers at Liberty Technology High School using founder and CEO Brandon Nathan’s classroom as a distribution center. Nathan said the effort—part of the M.A.L.E. On The Move campaign—offers food relief and support to Jackson families facing hardship. WBBJ-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Average gasoline prices in Tennessee rose 8.8 cents per gallon to $2.66 today according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations—prices stayed 2.6 cents lower than a month ago and unchanged from last year. WBBJ-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jackson-Madison County School System was named the 2025 School Board of the Year by the Tennessee School Boards Association—one of 147 boards statewide—and this marks its second honor in three years. The board was recognized for leading new programs and guiding the district with strong policy and planning. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Freed-Hardeman University’s personal financial planning program has tripled its enrollment in the past 18 months with 34 students now set to major, and a new student association hosts monthly meetings with industry professionals (including Chris Hallmark of Wells Fargo and Lee Johnson of Southern Capital Advisors in Jackson). - ➤ Councilman Frank McMeen said drivers along north highland are ignoring school bus stop rules and risking fines under Tennessee law—police monitor the area each morning while his Facebook videos have drawn more than 4 million views. He warned that such actions put children’s safety at risk and urged drivers to follow the law. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Tennessee's statewide gun deer hunting season will start November 22 and run through January 4 in all six Deer Management Units. Hunters must follow bag limits for antlered bucks and antlerless deer — and complete hunter education requirements with valid licenses. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ SNAP is fully restored—recipients are receiving full November benefits today, including those who had received partial payments earlier. If benefits are not posted as expected—recipients will receive them in the coming days as noted by state Human Services officials. WNBJ 39

- ➤ A new World Prematurity Day report shows the U.S. earned a D+ and Tennessee received a D with a 10.9% preterm birth rate—raising concerns for maternal and infant health. Nearly 33% of Tennessee counties lack sufficient maternity care while reduced smoking during pregnancy has helped lower preterm births, though worsening racial disparities remain a major challenge.
