- ➤ A local group held a Christmas Carol Service at Green Frog Farm Church on Highway 412 between Jackson and Dyersburg at 3 p.m. Sunday, where people sang classic hymns to celebrate the season and marked the first event of its kind at the church, which also offers cabin rentals. WYN 106.9
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctors warn that a new H3N2 subclade K flu strain spreading in the U.K. — along with reports from Canada and Japan — could lead to a harsher flu season, though it has not yet been found in Middle Tennessee. The current vaccine may not prevent this strain but can lessen its severity, so health officials urge everyone over 6 months to get vaccinated. The Jackson Sun

- ➤ Professional food eaters Katina Eats Kilos and Randy Santel took part in a public food challenge at KC Finns in Jackson where competitors had to finish six pounds of beef, a pound and a half of fries, and sodas.
