Jamsgiving is held today at Hub City Brewing on Thanksgiving starting at 6 p.m. with DJ Lolo performing live at 8 p.m. and children under five admitted free.

Downtown Jackson will offer horse-drawn carriage rides on December 5 during First Friday activities from 5—8 p.m. Rides cost $12 per person and begin and end at theLOCAL at 202 West Lafayette Street.

The Plant Shop opened in Jackson this past August offering both rare and common house plants along with free potting and plant reworking services.

It is located at 219 North Parkway, Suite 6 and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with an online shop available for in-store pickup.

Yesterday, several local Jackson venues hosted live music with acts such as Piano After Work at The Blacksmith and Karaoke at The Downtown Tavern—part of West Tennessee’s lineup that began on November 26th.

More shows will take place tomorrow and Saturday at venues including Doe’s Eat Place and The Tap—offering music fans a range of live performances in the region.

Jackson State Community College is hosting its 2025 Athletics Holiday Toy Drive to ensure no child goes without a holiday gift.

The drive will take place on Saturday, December 13 from 9 a.m. to noon in the gymnasium parking lot—local families are encouraged to participate.

UT Martin and Gibson County Special School District announced a partnership on Nov 11 at Gibson County High School that lets special education students earn college credits and explore future career paths.

The program will offer dual-enrollment courses and work-based learning opportunities (up to 30 UT Martin credit hours) to help build a local teacher pipeline.

A new traffic signal was activated at the intersection of Country Club Lane, Vann Drive and Express Drive to help control crossings and turning movements on flashing yellow.

Motorists must now follow the red, yellow, and green signal pattern and stop at the red light as overhead vehicle detection cameras manage traffic flow.

Dr. Dean Beckloff (licensed professional counselor) advised Jackson residents to set clear goals and manage expectations during the holidays as family pressures and challenging conversations can add stress.

He said planning what to say may help ease holiday worries and keep focus on what matters most.

Local professional Chris Parham from Parham Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electric advises Jackson residents to use LED lights, heavy duty cords and plastic mounting clips when setting up Christmas lights for outdoor safety—he warns against plugging more than three strands at a time to reduce fire risk.
