COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents gathered outside Jackson City Hall to celebrate the holiday season as the community lit a Christmas tree on Tuesday evening (just before the Christmas Parade began). Santa Claus and Misses Claus greeted children (adding extra cheer) during the event.  WBBJ TV
  • The Salvation Army Jackson launched its annual Red Kettle initiative on Giving Tuesday — red kettles are set up at Walmart, Sams Club, and The Columns to collect donations until December 24th — to help support local families with food and utility needs.  WNBJ 39

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Wild Petal is now open in Milan, Tenn and offers eco-friendly bouquets, custom wedding and funeral arrangements, and scented wax melts. Owner Tiffany Barham held a ribbon cutting today—she invites locals to call the shop or follow it on social media for details.  WYN 106.9

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historic First Baptist Church is hosting its live Christmas Nativity Cantata Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m. The event will feature live music — animals and refreshments for a festive celebration.  WNBJ 39
  • Velvet Volumes is hosting a book signing event on December 20th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Turntable Coffee Counter at 300 East Main Street—local authors Eddie D. Moore, Abby Wright, and Patricia L. Hamilton will sign their works—offering readers a chance to connect with local literary talent.  WNBJ 39

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Union University’s Online Nursing Post-Master’s Graduate Certificate Program has been ranked number two in Tennessee for 2026 by registerednursing.org — a recognition that underscores its role in preparing skilled nurses for local hospitals and clinics.  WYN 106.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • The state of Tennessee issued a regulation to prevent underage vaping and unregistered products, so local shops are now scanning every customer's ID — Vape and More — The House of E-Juice logs each sale. Some community members say the new measures will help keep minors safe.  WNBJ 39

SPORTS NEWS

  • Coaches sent stats from girls basketball games between Nov. 24 and 29 — with top players including Eva Eaton, Ella Wainscott, Bailee Shelton, Allie Grant, Tori Robinson and Haylen Ayers. Jackson area voters must email their picks — the poll closes on Dec. 5.  The Jackson Sun
  • The TSSAA state championship football games will take place at Finley Stadium from Dec 4 to Dec 6 with games at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Viewers in Jackson can watch on E+ Broadband—channel 6 or 206 HD—while others may stream the games online with an NFHS Network subscription.  The Jackson Sun
