COMMUNITY NEWS

  • First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Jackson invites neighbors to a Christmas Eve Communion Service on Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 200 South Church Street, offering a welcoming celebration of Holy Communion following the church’s open table tradition.  WNBJ 39
  • Tuesday night, the Jackson Lodge hosted its annual Cops and Kids Holiday Shopping event at north Jackson Walmart—local officers paired with 1-2 kids to select about $250 in gifts and treats for Christmas. Officials said the event helped build a bridge within the community.  WBBJ-TV
  • Casey's convenience store donated $2,000 to provide 2,000 pounds of food to Mid-South Food Bank, aiding local families and seniors. The donation was made on Dec. 9 at its Brownsville and Jackson locations (new additions in West Tennessee).  The Jackson Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Jackson-Madison County School System has released its draft calendar for the 2026–2027 school year and invites community feedback today (input will help shape the final schedule).  WBBJ-TV
  • Jackson State Community College and Helping Hands of Middle and West Tennessee hosted a graduation ceremony for the pilot class of dental lab technicians on Tuesday in Jackson. The graduates are now ready to join the workforce or continue their studies.  WYN 106.9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jackson Regional Airport Board voted to appoint Kyle Barron as the new executive director on Monday, Dec. 8 at the regional airport. He will assume his role on Jan. 1 — following Steve Smith's planned retirement at month-end.  WBBJ-TV
  • Andrea Bond Johnson officially kicked off her campaign with a rally at Baker Bros+BBQ in downtown Jackson this evening as she seeks the House seat for District 80 and promises affordable healthcare, better resources for teachers, and workforce development ahead of next year's election.  WYN 106.9
  • Jackson Animal Care and Control debuted new transport vehicles that feature improved climate control and ventilation to provide safer, more humane rides for animals and staff to the animal control center.  WNBJ 39

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local plumbing experts advise Jackson residents to take preventive steps as colder temperatures are expected later this weekend. They recommend keeping cabinet doors open, running faucets, and disconnecting hoses to prevent pipes from freezing and avoid costly repairs.  WBBJ-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Westview quarterback Graham Simpson was named the 2025 Tennessee Titan Mr. Football Class 3A winner Tuesday evening after leading his team to a state championship and perfect season. He threw for 2,242 yards and 25 touchdowns and ran 23 times for 150 yards + two scores.  WYN 106.9
  • Jackson Parks and Rec announced that registration for the Spring Youth Soccer season for kids is open and must be completed by (Jan. 11, 2026).  WNBJ 39
