- ➤ Animal Care Center warns local families adopting pets during the holiday season to be sure they can support a decade or more of care. The center notes many pets are returned after the season if owners do not fully prepare for the permanent commitment & financial responsibility. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Jackson Animal Care and Control Center opened its new facility at 241 Conalco Dr on Saturday, Dec. 13 — leaving behind a 20-year history at the old Humane Society building. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ Ronald McDonald House launched a new housing program with a ribbon cutting at the Hyatt Hotel — 518 West Forest Avenue. The program will serve up to 20 families of children treated at Le Bonheur and Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, with enrollment beginning January 5. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Dart’s Carts invites the community to a holiday golf cart test drive week from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. near Highway 45 Bypass where families can ride various carts, enjoy free food, and enter a giveaway for three prizes. Winners will be announced live on Facebook on Dec. 23. WYN 106.9
- ➤ The City of Jackson announced winners for its 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Jackson Holiday Decorating Contest (42 Old Humboldt Road won Judges’ Pick and 27 Pemberton Cove won People’s Choice) from 13 nominated homes between Nov. 24 and Dec. 2, with 54 Woodcrest Drive earning honorable mention for local pride. - ➤ Bahakel Communications has agreed to sell Jackson’s ABC station, WBBJ 7, to Gray Media & the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approval. WYN 106.9

- ➤ Tracey King (with The Jackson Symphony) shared details today about the upcoming Crystal Ball event, which will offer a festive evening for local residents. WYN 106.9
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tennessee residents can reserve 11 types of native trees for the 12th Tennessee Tree Day event on March 21 in communities across the state. Online reservations are open until March 1 at 173 pick-up sites + a small donation is requested for each tree. WYN 106.9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Fire Department reminds residents to use only approved fireworks from December 18 through January 2 and to follow safety guidelines during use windows of December 28-January 2 and December 31-January 1. The department advises storing fireworks securely, keeping water nearby, and avoiding dry areas to reduce fire risks. WYN 106.9
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Diana Bitner announced a new hormone-free treatment for moderate to severe hot flashes and night sweats due to menopause. Lynkuet (an FDA-approved therapy supported by clinical data) is now available in Jackson and patients should consult their doctor for personalized guidance. WYN 106.9
