- ➤ Washington Douglas Head Start hosted its 7th annual winter coat drive sponsored by The Bank of Jackson today. The event collected over 200 coats (with a special visit from Santa Claus) to help keep local families warm this season. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ The Salvation Army of Jackson is hosting its Red Kettle Campaign to raise $115,000 for community support until Christmas Eve (QR codes simplify donations). WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Kansas City Chiefs star Trey Smith hosted Trey’s Holiday of Hope on Tuesday in Jackson in partnership with United Way to provide holiday gifts and funds to 10 local families. He said his upbringing in Jackson inspired him to honor his late mother's charitable spirit. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ The United Way of West Tennessee board announced that longtime CEO Matt Marshall will leave to lead statewide United Ways while Lauren Cino will serve as interim CEO effective February 1 (continuity during the transition is expected). WYN 106.9

- ➤ UT Martin announced on Dec. 16 that Dr. Laurie Couch is its new provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs; her start date will be announced soon as the university builds on recent enrollment growth. - ➤ The Jackson Fire Department reminds residents to safely store and use consumer fireworks following Tennessee guidelines; sales begin today (8 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and usage is allowed December 28 to January 2 (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.). WNBJ 39

- ➤ Reframe is a new app in Jackson that offers support and education (including community meetings) to help users reduce alcohol consumption. The app uses neuroscience-based strategies to provide resources for those who want to quit or drink less. WYN 106.9
