- ➤ The new church The Formed held its first Christmas Eve service yesterday at Arrow Athletics—members celebrated Christ’s birth with worship, testimony, prayer, and preaching as the church begins its mission to be formed like Jesus. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Cathi Roberts, President and co-founder of Maggie and Friends Therapy Dogs, is recognized as a Community Champion for her volunteer program that brings smiles to hospitals, colleges, and nursing homes. The program began 16 years ago with five dogs—and now includes 16 dogs and 17 handlers—that serve the local community. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Old Country Store served its 41st Christmas Eve breakfast on Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 5:30 a.m. in Jackson, welcoming around 2,000 guests with a hearty menu and a visit from Santa (a beloved local tradition) during its 60 years in business. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ A local family got a brand new Kia Soul as a Christmas gift from Prime Auto USA after the dealership team carefully reviewed nominations + the winning nomination was submitted by her mother. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ The Jackson Area Plectral Society will host an old-time barn dance on Thursday, Jan. 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at American Legion Post 12 — local residents can enjoy live string music and join in preserving traditional tunes. WNBJ 39

- ➤ The Powerball drawing took place on Dec. 24 at 9:59 p.m. CT with a $1.7B jackpot offering a lump-sum payment of $781.3 million or an annuity with 29 increasing payments. Lottery tickets were available at local stores + online until 9 p.m. CT on Christmas Eve. The Jackson Sun

- ➤ State law prohibited liquor stores from selling alcohol on certain holidays but allowed them to operate on Christmas Eve; stores opened at their regular hours on December 24 & residents were advised to check store hours as local ordinances may vary. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ Holiday travelers in Tennessee can expect no road construction as temporary lane closures are halted on interstates and state highways from Dec. 23 to 11:59 p.m. Jan. 2.
