COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the NAACP—over 100 years old—will hold its upcoming Freedom Fund Banquet soon, marking a continuation of a legacy that began during a time of national unrest across Tennessee and the country. The event will honor the chapter's long history and commitment to civil rights. The Jackson Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 5 to May 9 and many food chains in Tennessee are offering educators free or discounted meals, including free fries at Burger King and 20% off at Buffalo Wild Wings. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jackson residents are warned not to release pet goldfish into natural waters as they breed in local ponds (such as the Lotus Pond at Ijams Nature Center) and harm native species.
