ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ First responders rushed to a mass casualty wreck involving a Greyhound bus on Highway 70 East near the Madison County Solid Waste Convenience Center just before 7 p.m. Monday—39 patients were involved with about 29 transported by ambulance as officials asked residents to avoid the area. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Police Chief Thom Corley addressed weekend gun violence when a Saturday 8:41 p.m. shooting at Kate Campbell Park left seven victims—six discharged and one hospitalized in stable condition—and an early Sunday shooting on Old Hickory Blvd resulted in one death and another man seriously injured as police use camera footage and witness statements to investigate. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Northside Church is preparing to stage an original musical called Abandoned that explores a young man's journey from the past and healing in God's grace. The free performance will run on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 6 p.m. — group reservations are available. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Brownsville native Helen Turner, a former pitmaster who ran Helen’s BBQ for 28 years, has been inducted into the 2025 Barbecue Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held on November 8 during the American Royal World Series of Barbecue—an honor that marks her lasting impact on the art of barbecue. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Jackson Mayor Scott Conger proposed raising property taxes and city vehicle sticker fees to fund improvements on streets, sidewalks and public spaces but many residents voiced their worries—the proposal has not yet been scheduled for review by the city council. WNBJ 39
