- ➤ TBI says Austin Robert Drummond remains at large after being named an armed and dangerous suspect charged with four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and firearm offenses in connection with the July 29 Tiptonville quadruple homicide — he was last seen in Jackson driving a white 2016 Audi A3 with damage to the driver's side. - ➤ Organizers moved Porchfest 2025 to September 13 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Lambuth Area Neighborhood to beat the heat. New attractions include a Poetry Porch hosted by The Griot Collective and a Kids’ Stage with acts by Music with Alice and the Jackson Theatre Guild—promising a fun, family-friendly evening in Jackson. - ➤ The Tennessee Higher Education Commission announced on August 1st that the TN Promise application for the Class of 2026 is open—students can apply for tuition-free college at community colleges, TCATs, and other eligible institutions with a deadline of November 3rd.
