  • LIFELINE Blood Services announced that Ms. Margaret 'Jane' Wall from Union City won the 2022 Ford Mustang Convertible — donated by Joe Mahan Ford — after nearly 7,500 donations were made during their 7th Annual Car Giveaway held from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Jane said she was excited to win and thanked donors who helped save local lives.  WYN 106.9
  • The Greater Jackson Chamber announced its 2025 Leadership Jackson class on September 4—this 13-week program will develop emerging leaders from across Jackson and Madison County and will kick off early September with a full-day orientation. Mike Bryant serves as Chair while participants from sectors such as health care, economic development and education prepare to drive positive change in our community.  WYN 106.9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Tennessee Higher Education Commission is urging seniors to apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship that will cover tuition and mandatory fees at community colleges, colleges of applied technology and eligible two-year programs—applications must be submitted by November 3.  WNBJ 39
  • Public and charter school students as young as 5 will be required by state law to receive annual gun safety training that teaches firearm parts such as the trigger, barrel (without using live ammunition) and covers four key safety rules. School districts plan to use age-appropriate lessons and may involve community partners like police to guide the program in the coming weeks.  The Jackson Sun
